Bio

Although I took photography classes in college, my true photographic development started off during a year of solo travel (2013-2014). Drawn to natural wilderness and a nomadic existence, I travelled on my own through Russia, Mongolia, China, Tibet and Nepal, among others, where surrounded by mountains, I really learnt to feel tiny, quietly observe and take photographs with patience.

We live in a mostly volatile world. A lot of information in the form of news and opinions come at us at a tremendous speed. With my latest work-in-progress and long-term projects, I try in my own personal way to get to grips with larger social themes such as ageing and beauty, the relationship between man and nature or our unbridled hunger for efficiency. I try to channel the feelings I experience in this regard, such as anger, powerlessness and doubts, into my work, creating space for stillness and research.
I do this through photography, making portraits of people by placing them in a certain context, but also by making still images of nature. I am inspired by trends, art, politics, poetry, imagination and nature. My work is honest and realistic in nature, but does not give the viewer direct answers.
